Sunflower Tree, Tithonia diversifolia (Hemsl.) A. Gray

The sunflower tree (Tithonia diversifolia (Hemsl.) A. Gray) has finally bloomed, at a height of about 20'. The USDA calls this a 'tree marigold' and lists it as a pest. In the Aster family, its closest relative in my garden, the Tithonia rotundifolia (Mexican Sunflower) is also in full bloom.
