Yellows

The yellows arrived quickly this September. Everything that can is blooming yellow. Above a bee lands on one of the many Emperor's Candlesticks (Senna alata) in bloom. This specimen is about 9' tall so I had to use a long lens to capture this image.

Above: A Giant Swallowtail in her dying minutes struggles to lay a single egg. I captured about 100 images of this event but most are too sad to share. . .her wings falling off as she pushes out that last egg. Below: her egg. I will be following this one to see if it hatches and makes it to cocoon stage. I have not yet witnessed a cocoon opening, despite the fact that we have literally thousands of cocoons on the citrus trees today. Part of the problem is my inability to get moving before noon.
