Zebra Heliconian on Spanish Needles

These Zebra Heliconian (Heliconius charithonia) were having a rough time of it today with intermittent rain and high humidity (wet wings don't provide much lift). They made easier targets for the camera with more sluggish-than-normal flight. We've had 5.00 inches of rain in Debary in the past 48 hours. Not great weather for butterflies.

They seem to really like these Spanish Needles (Bidens alba) which most Floridians would consider to be a weed. I let the Spanish Needles go, around the edges of the gardens just for some color. They are a bit of a pain if one gets too close. Their seeds embed themselves in anything cloth or skin or fur. . . that comes in contact with the seed pod.
