ABOVE: The Christmas lights. . .with the camera pointed directly into the sun. It is a cooler and crisp day. The Nor'easter didn't deliver the promised rain but it did bring cooler weather. This was our 4th mid-latitude cyclone of this El Nino winter.
ABOVE and BELOW: The lights after dark with long exposures (60 seconds). The crescent moon is toward the top right behind the now-tall 4-year-old Queen Palms (
Syagrus romanzoffiana). I'll try to get this shot again tonight, a little earlier, to position the moon higher in the western sky.
The moon's first quarter will arrive on Christmas Eve and the full moon will be New Year's Eve.
