Giant Water Bug

I like this shot of one of the Lake Monroe Parks this afternoon. I've been playing around with into-the-sun shots.

I also like these artsy shots of likely Giant Water Bugs (Lethocerus americanus). They were swarming near the docks. These bugs are viscous and will not hesitate to bite when handled. They're in the Suborder of True Bugs (Heteroptera).

The reflections in the water are Bald Cypress Trees (Taxodium distichum (L.) Rich.).

BELOW: A close up of one of these aggressive little bugs.

Check out other new images at the other blogs. Phillip's Natural World. . . the other photos and Phillip's Natural World III.
