Osprey chicks

ABOVE: These Osprey (Pandion haliaetus) chicks are almost fully grown. Here they eat lunch on a very hot Saturday afternoon. At ground level the temperature was 94 F. (34.5 C.). One chick hides beneath the larger (wings spread).

ABOVE: The naked eye sees the osprey more like this. . . atop the dead tree far in the distance. And again BELOW: with powerful digital zoom applied.

I find it interesting how for now -- at least -- the osprey siblings take care of one another. Much like our cat (Felis catus) Ramone shelters DRR (Damien Roscoe Roth)

BELOW: One barely notices that DRR even exists in the house. . . he is always in much-larger Ramone's shadow and range of protection. DRR deserves a friend like Ramone. . .he is one of the strays we rescued after a long time in the difficult outdoor environment.
