Eastern Tiger Swallowtail

ABOVE: This is the male Eastern Tiger Swallowtail (Papilio glaucus L., 1758). I had a camera in my pocket (no zoom) and just got in close. He wasn't shy. He's really spectacular and quite large.

BELOW: This is the female Eastern Tiger Swallowtail who was also hanging around this afternoon. They're in the side gardens which are a mess. I haven't been able to get in and clear out the weeds for weeks now due to my continued pain. Still, these guys don't seem to mind. I am going to attempt to clean out the weeds in there this week -- very slowly.

BELOW: I still have a lot of sunflower blooming. Neglect works well with these plants. Neglect and some rain. Here a Gulf fritillary (Agraulis vanillae) takes a drink unaware of the incoming bee. The bees always get the flower.
