Hot, humid, and buggy

The weather continues brutally hot, dry, humid and buggy. I'm often asked how it can be humid and yet dry. . . Simple answer is it just is. There is plenty of moisture in the air making it humid but the air is mostly descending over the Florida peninsula which is not conducive to rain. Today's afternoon temperatures peaked at 97° F. (36° C.). It is forecast to get hotter and drier through the weekend. The only time there is some relief from the bugs is mid-day. . .when its too hot for them to fly. Some relief might come next week with the approach of the next tropical system. . . though it is far too early to tell where that system might go.

Below: The current computer model estimates for the track of the next tropical system over the coming week. The models are forecasting this system to become a hurricane within a few days. If she does develop her name will be Hurricane Emily.
