Baby Raccoon

This baby raccoon (Procyon lotor) has visited several nights in a row. Its Mom leaves him on the porch for some time while she attends to other raccoon business. The diet of these omnivorous and normally nocturnal mammals consists of about 40% invertebrates, 33% plant foods, and 27% invertebrates. Captive raccoons sometimes douse their food before eating it, which is most likely a vacuum activity imitating foraging at shores.

This little guy is happy with Meow Mix. The bowls measure 11"x 11" to give some idea of how small he is.
