Super Bowl LI and the Cloudless Sulphur Butterfly

This is the caterpillar of the Cloudless Sulphur Butterfly (Phoebis sennae) feasting on one of the Emperor's Candlestick (Senna alata) blooms.

This was not an easy shot. . .the butterfly is frenetic, quickly moving from shoot to shoot of the Senna. It lays its eggs on the most tender new shoots. This is one of our most persistent butterflies but this is the first time I've ever captured it for an image because of its rapid movements. We have over 100 species of butterflies in Florida. The Cloudless Sulphur hangs around most of the year.

We are destined to have many more of these as the Emperor's Candlesticks are covered with caterpillars.
