I have been cultivating a stand of Rabbit's Tobacco (
Gnaphalium obtusifolium L.) that I was convinced was Blue Lupine. The hairy, whitish stems make them appear quite similar. I was very excited when what I thought was Lupine was going to bloom. When it bloomed white, I knew I had made a mistake.
This biennial is sometimes called "Sweet Everlasting" because of its aromatic leaves and long lasting white flowers. In times past it was dried and used in flower arrangements.
I let this specimen grow up over Bee Pooh's grave near the first pond.
