Christmas Decorating
I'm posting these photos backwards. . . first = last taken.
I started working on the Christmas installation today. It took a lot longer than expected. So far I think it is. . .unusual. It causes me to pause and ponder. It is a vision I had. Its about half finished.
There is a lot more work to do. Tomorrow I'll paint the 4 x 4 poles. I erected 7 today. The tallest is 10 feet tall.
Each pole is topped by a large, 5 gallon pickle jar, filled with 100 LED lights. The yellow lights in the background are the florescent fence lights. This were 30 second exposures.
I unearthed these 4 x 4s from beside the garage. There is a large cache of lumber buried there.
The process took twice as long as it might have. . . I had originally placed the 4 x 4s close to the corner of the property. I decided it might be too much temptation for the locals if the orbs were too close to the road. . .so I had to move them all closer to the house. Thus I ended up digging 14 holes and placing 14 poles. . .then removing 7. I can feel it in my back. Those 12 foot poles are heavy.
I nailed the lids of the jars to the top of the 4 x 4 posts, filled the jars with lights, then screwed the jar back into its cap.
Below, I'm nailing the caps to the shorter poles. The poles are rough. I have some green paint for them. It was too wet to paint today. . .and I was too tired.
After deciding this was a good spot for the poles. I stabilized them. . . and took a break.
I saved these jars because I couldn't figure how to recycle them. This is a good use for them.
