Italian Rye Grass

I planted the first 50 pounds of Italian Rye Grass (Lolium perenne L. ssp. multiflorum (Lam.) Husnot) today. I did this because the computer models are forecasting drenching rains over the next 48 hours. I'm hoping they're correct. Last year my efforts were in vain with the Italian Rye. We never got the rains that it needed to thrive.

As you can see, below, the landscape is getting kind of brown. I don't care for the brown.

Below, the seed. . .which smelled really nice. I spread this first batch by hand. We'll see how well I did. I have a mechanical spreader but decided to do it the old fashioned way.

BELOW: My buddy Dell-Roy Jackson is helping. He kept running between my legs to scare me. Its a little game. Then he'd go back and sit on another of my potted plants. All the plants are bent from this game of him running and sitting atop the plants.
