Osprey

I watched the osprey (Pandion haliaetus) a while yesterday. . . until the bugs and heat got to me. I was a bit too far away for a great shot but these are OK.



I think it was a female atop the nest tearing apart a fish for the chicks. I could see the chicks stick their heads up every once in a while but I never got a clear shot.



The family was making quite the racket. . . but I was too lazy to go get the video camera . . . one of these days I'll tape their songs and post them here. They are very loud. They sound like a referee's whistle to me.
