December Rainbows

These are some fun camera shots with rainbows and sunsets.

The sun is casting its longest shadows of the year in the northern hemisphere, which can create some really unusual shadows and rainbows when there is moisture in the environment (rarely). The above images are water on the cars in close up.

Sunset comes quickly. It will be sun-in-your-face-too-bright-to-imagine one minute and twilight the next as the sun quickly dips to the southwest around 5:30 pm.

Below: More unusual reflections in a recent raindrop.

Below: A rainbow over the Atlantic Ocean on Thanksgiving.

Below: Brilliant afternoon sunshine through Spanish Moss (Tillandsia usneoides).

We had our second cold front of the season yesterday which brought -- finally -- seasonable temperatures to Central Florida. It is in the 60s F. (17 C.) at present with the smell of smoke in the air. There has been little rain in months and it is extremely dry, with relative humidity around 40% or less today. . . and no chance of rain. I imagine this will be another major wildfire year for Florida due to the persistent dry conditions.
