El Nino and Lake Levels
ABOVE: The second big El Nino storm of the year is winding up in the northern Gulf of Mexico tonight. We're very hopeful that this storm brings us much needed rain.
ABOVE: While this image from today looks idyllic. . . it would be much nicer if the lake levels returned to something more like normal. BELOW: The lake is down about 5 vertical feet from normal. My lake level gauge (at the end of arrows) has been on dry land for some time.
BELOW: Arrows point to the horizontal decline of the lake this fall. The lake has retreated 20 feet to the north since June. She's lost another vertical foot of water in the past 6 weeks.
ABOVE and BELOW: These images are from Saturday. I never get tired of that view.
